Product description
UDPG pyrophosphorylase (UGP, EC 2.7.7.9) is one of the important indicators of carbohydrate metabolism, widely distributed in nature, and present in many tissues of microorganisms and plants and animals. It catalyzes the activation of glucose, synthesizing UDP-glucose (UDPG) from 1-phosphoglucopyranose and UTP. It provides glucose units for the synthesis of various carbohydrates, including sucrose, polysaccharides, cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, and glycoproteins. UGP reversibly catalyzes the reaction to produce 1-phosphoglucopyranose, which is converted into NADPH by phosphoglucomutase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. The increase in absorbance at 340nm reflects the UGP activity.
Additional Materials and Equipments Required
