Product description
Triose phosphate isomerase (EC 5.3.1.1, TPI or TIM) is an important enzyme in glycolysis, catalyzing the interconversion of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate, thus maintaining the balance of these two phosphate esters. TPI connects glycolysis with the pentose phosphate pathway and lipid metabolism and is a stable homodimer found in almost all organisms. This assay kit provides a rapid, simple, and sensitive detection method. TPI transforms dihydroxyacetone phosphate into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, which then reacts with an enzyme mixture and a specific color-developing probe to produce a substance with a maximum absorption peak at 450nm. By measuring the increase in light absorption at 450nm, the activity of TPI can be determined.
