Product description
Sucrose is the main product of photosynthesis and is widely distributed in plants, especially in high concentrations in beets, sugarcane, and fruits. Sucrose, formed by the condensation of glucose and fructose, is easily soluble in water and difficult to dissolve in ethanol. Under acidic conditions, sucrose is hydrolyzed into fructose and glucose. Using the anthrone colorimetric method, the product has a characteristic absorption peak at 620nm, and the sucrose content can be calculated.
Additional Materials and Equipments Required
Visible spectrophotometer, 1mL glass cuvettes (optical path 1cm), water bath, pipettes, mortar and pestle, room temperature centrifuge, ethanol, concentrated sulfuric acid, distilled water.
