Soil aryl sulfatase (EC 3.1.6.1) originates from soil microorganisms and can enzymatically convert soil organic sulfur compounds into inorganic sulfur that is absorbable by plants, playing an important role in the biogeochemical cycle of sulfur and plant sulfur metabolism, and is an important biological indicator reflecting soil quality. Soil aryl sulfatase (S-ASF) can catalyze the generation of p-nitrophenol (PNP) from p-nitrophenyl sulfate, which has characteristic light absorption at 410nm. By measuring the increase rate of light absorption at 410nm, the activity of S-ASF enzyme can be calculated.
