Product description
Pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC, EC 4.1.1.1) is one of the key enzymes in ethanol fermentation, catalyzing the decarboxylation of pyruvate to acetaldehyde, and is found in yeast and plants. PDC catalyzes the decarboxylation of pyruvate to acetaldehyde, and alcohol dehydrogenase further catalyzes the reduction of acetaldehyde by NADH to produce ethanol and NAD+. By measuring the decrease in light absorption of NADH at 340 nm, the activity of PDC can be determined.
