Product description
Pyruvate plays an important role in various biochemical pathways, can be converted into carbohydrates during gluconeogenesis, or converted into fatty acids through acetyl CoA. Pyruvate reacts with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine to form 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone, which turns brown-red in an alkaline solution; the content of pyruvate can be determined by reading the absorbance at 520nm.
Additional Materials and Equipments Required
Visible spectrophotometer, 1mL glass cuvette (light path 1cm), desktop centrifuge, pipette, mortar and pestle, ice, distilled water.
