Product description
Under the influence of concentrated sulfuric acid, sugars hydrolyze to form monosaccharides and rapidly dehydrate to produce sugar aldehyde derivatives, which then condense with phenol to form a stable orange-yellow compound. At a wavelength of 488 nm and within a certain concentration range, the absorbance is directly proportional to the polysaccharide content, allowing the determination of polysaccharide content in samples using a spectrophotometer and a standard curve. This method is applicable for the determination of polysaccharide content.

Visible spectrophotometer, 1mL glass cuvette (light path 1cm), water bath/metal bath, pipette, ethanol, concentrated sulfuric acid (not allowed for courier), mortar and pestle.
