Product description
Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC, EC 4.1.1.31) is a key enzyme in the photosynthetic carbon metabolism of C4 and CAM plants, playing a role in fixing CO2 from the environment. It catalyzes the irreversible reaction of PEP and CO2 to form oxaloacetate, and this enzyme plays an important role in photosynthetic carbon assimilation, respiration, and material metabolism. PEPC catalyzes the conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and CO2 to oxaloacetate, and malate dehydrogenase further catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate and NADH to malate and NAD+. By measuring the decrease rate of NADH at 340 nm, the activity of PEPC enzyme can be calculated.
