Mitochondrial Complex III (EC 1.10.2.2), also known as CoQ-cytochrome C reductase, is widely present in the mitochondria of animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is a common component of the main and branch pathways of the mitochondrial respiratory electron transport chain, responsible for transferring hydrogen from reduced CoQ to cytochrome C to form reduced cytochrome C. Reduced cytochrome C has characteristic light absorption at 550nm, and the increase in light absorption at 550nm can reflect the enzyme activity of mitochondrial Complex III.
