Manganese peroxidase (EC1.11.1.13, Mnp) is a glycosylated extracellular protein secreted by fungi, a heme-containing peroxidase, mainly found in white-rot fungi and soil actinomycetes, belonging to the lignin degradation enzyme system, capable of effectively degrading lignin and other recalcitrant substances in wastewater and the environment, such as humic acid and various organic pollutants including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Manganese peroxidase (Mnp) oxidizes dimethoxyphenol (DMP) to produce a product with a characteristic absorption peak at 470nm in the presence of Mn2+. By detecting the increase rate of this product at 470nm, the Mnp enzyme activity can be obtained.
