Product description
Free cholesterol (FC) is not only involved in the formation of cell membranes but also serves as a precursor for the synthesis of bile acids, vitamin D, and steroid hormones. Its serum concentration can be used as an indicator of lipid metabolism. Free cholesterol (FC) is oxidized by cholesterol oxidase to produce 4-cholestenone and H2O2, which then reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine to form a red quinone compound with a characteristic absorption peak at 510nm. By measuring the absorbance at 510nm, the FC content can be determined.
