Product description
Citrate is widely used in food, medicine, and industry, and is also the product of the first reaction in the citric acid cycle, involved in respiratory metabolism and other physiological metabolic activities. Iron(III)-sulfosalicylic acid forms a purple-red complex, and citrate can fade the color of this complex to orange-red. At 470nm, the decrease in absorbance is directly proportional to the citrate content under certain conditions, allowing the determination of citrate content in the sample.
Additional Materials and Equipments Required
Visible spectrophotometer, 1mL glass cuvette (optical path 1cm), low-temperature centrifuge, pipette, mortar and pestle, ice, and distilled water.
