Catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6) is widely present in plant and animal tissues, and its activity is related to the metabolic intensity of organisms and their resistance to cold and disease. This kit provides a simple, sensitive, and rapid method for determining CAT activity. CAT catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to produce water and oxygen. The remaining hydrogen peroxide reacts with a new colorimetric probe to form a color, which has a maximum absorption peak at 510nm. The CAT enzyme activity in the sample can be calculated by measuring the decrease in hydrogen peroxide. This kit's突出 feature is the shift from UV wavelength (240nm: the detection wavelength for hydrogen peroxide) to visible wavelength (510nm) detection, eliminating the need for quartz cuvettes or UV plates. Additionally, due to the extreme instability of hydrogen peroxide, direct detection can cause unstable readings, and proteins and other components also absorb light at this UV wavelength, affecting the accuracy of the results.
