Product description
Phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and HCO3- react under the action of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase and Mg2+ to form oxaloacetate and phosphate. Oxaloacetate reacts with malate dehydrogenase to form malate, oxidizing NADH to NAD+. The rate of NADH consumption is proportional to the CO2 content in the sample. By measuring the change in absorbance at 340nm, the CO2 content in the sample can be determined.
