β-Glucan, chemically known as (1-3)(1-4)-β-D-glucan, is a type of non-starch polysaccharide. Studies have found that β-glucan has effects such as cancer fighting, blood lipid reduction, and blood sugar reduction. This kit uses the enzymatic action of glucanase and β-glucosidase on (1-3)(1-4)-β-D-glucan in the sample. Lichenase specifically hydrolyzes β-glucan into oligosaccharides, and β-glucosidase hydrolyzes the oligosaccharides into glucose. Glucose is then specifically oxidized to produce a (pink) red product that reacts with the color reagent, which has a maximum absorption peak at 510nm, thereby calculating the content of β-glucan.

Visible spectrophotometer, 1mL glass cuvette (light path 1cm), constant temperature water bath, centrifuge, pipette, anhydrous ethanol, and distilled water.
